Records were broken the past two weeks and this week was no different. After dipping to a record low last week, this was by far the best week in earnings I’ve ever had. If this pace is kept up, $1000 this month should be well within reach.
The highlight of this week was a spectacular string of multiple sales of two of my older tracks on Audiojungle which accounted for just over $60 in the blink of an eye. It was a sales pattern that I had never seen and it just goes to show how unpredictable sales trends can be.
So, to follow up what was my best week in sales, here we are with a new low in weekly sales since the day I started this blog. I don’t really have an explanation for it other than the fact that no new tracks were uploaded this week. All I can do is wait to see what happens next week when three new tracks are expected to break into the marketplace.
The value of uploading new tracks on Audiojungle and getting that front page exposure was especially evident this week as my newest track rattled off 9 sales in a row, contributing a hefty percentage of the total earnings this week. This always isn’t the case, and most of my tracks do not start off with this level of success. On the most part, I find that a lot of my tracks sit at zero sales for a while before one or two sales trickle in over a period of a few weeks. What helps is that I have a decent sized library, with over 180 tracks, so the cumulative sales have been increasing, albeit slowly, over time. Many successful authors on Audiojungle seem to have one or more hit tracks that have hundreds to thousands in sales PER TRACK so they are raking in the dough even with a small number of songs in their libraries. I am waiting for the day when one of my tracks will take off in the same fashion. I will keep you posted…
This was an interesting week, hilariously missing the $200 mark by a penny. Funny thing is I originally had miscalculated by two cents and thought that I had broken the $200 threshold by the same amount. It is what it is. Barely missing the target is still a miss, and hence the A- for the week.
This week finally put Pond5 on my sales spreadsheet, having earned my first sale there. May this be the start of something wonderful…
I’m finally happy and relieved to have breached the $200 mark this week and it was an important number for me because it indicates that my sales are still trending up and have not stagnated. In order to reach my goal of $20,000 by the end of the year, sales need to increase a few dollars on average each week and I am hoping that this trend will continue.
Last week, I had mentioned that my creativity meter was running low. Fortunately, this week I had a moment of what I thought was sheer brilliance and this is the idea I came up with. I have a fairly popular track page on Audiojungle, which has been getting a few hundred visits each month since July 2013. The track itself is a loopable track and I figured I should try and help whoever visits the page by providing instructions on how to properly go about looping the track. So I decided to create a short Youtube video tutorial on how to use audio loops and I embedded the video inside a blog post here in my website. It is too early to tell what kind of impact this is having on sales, or even traffic to this website. But I will keep you updated.
